Sleep problems in infants

During the months of sleepless nights, every parent thinks that maybe the child is suffering from a sleep disorder. Although some children have sleep deprivation and sleep apnea, most children have only short sleep cycles. Because their sleep cycles last only 50 to 60 minutes the children wake up every hour.

instructions

1. Record how long the child sleeps. Infants, 1 to 3 months of age require approximately 15-1/2 hours of sleep. Children from 6 to 9 months require little more than 14 hours. At first birthday, they need about 13-3/4 hours of sleep a day. If your child is getting enough sleep all day and night, you probably do not suffer from sleep disorders.

2. Watch the teething problems that can cause more frequent during the night. The cognitive and physical development, which occurs at about 7 to 9 months, can create anxiety that inhibits sleep in children.

3. Watch your sleeping baby. Sleep apnea is a common childhood disease that causes sleep disturbance interrupting the breath of a child. Children under 6 months often experience periodic breathing, which includes various breathing patterns. Although brief pauses in breathing of a child are normal, a pause of 20 seconds or more require medical attention.
